Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10331686

The Spark Module is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool ranges. It is an electrical component that generates the spark needed to ignite the gas burners. By sparking consistently and reliably, the module allows the cooktop burners to ignite with each use.

Causes of a bad spark module can include normal wear and tear over time, exposure to moisture or residue, or issues with the electronic components that produce the spark.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

  • Burners that will not ignite or light consistently
  • Burners that ignite but then immediately go out
  • Only some of the burners lighting while others do not
  • A clicking sound coming from the ignitors but no visible spark

Note: For harness from spark module to igniters use part number 9756892.

This OEM Whirlpool replacement spark module is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Jaf for Model Number GS440LEMB4

Is there a way to initiate a self test via the key pad so as it will read a code? My stove has not read any code and my problem is that my oven and broiler will not ignite. The stove top works fine. When I try to light the oven or broiler, I do not here the gas valve open nor do I here the ignitors "click" as they use to do. One other thing I noticed while messing with this is that sometimes when I plug the stove into the outlet I can here the gas valve click......other times when I plug it in I do not here anything. Please help me if you can...desperate for a pot pie. Thanks.

Answer

Hello JAF. If the oven is not sparking on bake or broil, you may have a bad spark module WPW10331686. There is not way of pulling a code, if the oven does not display one. You will need to test and see if the clock is sending power to the spark module when the unit is turned onto bake or broil. If so, and they do not spark, you will need to replace the module. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
