Ralph for Model Number kenmore 110.28972890 I replaced the spin coupler, and I didn't tap the dogs on the shaft far enough so when I put it back together it was hard to turn . Before I checked that, I turned on the machine ,it filled with water and when it went to agitate it buzzed for a while then stopped . So I think I burned out the motor start switch . I corrected the dog on shaft problem and motor spins free and I get power to the motor but maybe I have to bypass or jump the water level switch. Can you help ?
Answer Ralph, an easier test, put the timer dial in the final spin/drain of any cycle, if the motor runs and the tub spins, it's not likely an issue with the motor, but a damaged circuit in the timer. If the motor still hums in the spin cycle, then it's an issue in the motor switch. If you wish, you can remove the purple and tan wires from the pressure switch, jump them together and select the agitate cycle. this will complete the full water level circuit and the timer will think the tub is full and the motor should run and agitate.
