Hello Bob. It sounds to me as though the motor is getting 120Vac from two sources at once when it should only get it from one at a time. Many times this is due to a fabric selector switch failure. Either WPW10150079 or WPW10168257. I say either or because the rotory switches are not labeled on the diagram so you should refer to the diagram for the switch location. It is called different names on different models but it will be the switch that determines wash speed and agitation speed. This can be a tricky diagnosis as the complaint can be caused by anything in the circuit including the wiring harness 3957363, the motor WP8529935, the motor capacitor WP8572720 or the timer WP8557393. My suggestion is to use the wiring diagram normally found behind the control panel and refer to this link for test meter use: You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
