Frank, Based on your post, it's more likely a timer issue, or gear case problem, 99% of the time, if the motor runs in one direction, it will reverse and run in the opposite direction, provided the proper circuitry and voltage is supplied from the timer. Without a proper model number, you may also want to remove the drain pump and motor, and turn the coupler on the transmission input gear several revolutions in both directions, to make sure a "locked up" transmission is not the case.
