Judy for Model Number Whirlpool LA6800XT The washing machine will not agitate on "low speed". During the Regular/Normal Cycle - the washer is suppose to wash/agitate for 4 minutes high speed (which it does) and then 6 minutes low speed. During these 6 minutes the washer does not agitate at all. Consequently if I try a load on the Delicate cycle - it is suppose to wash/agitate for 4 min low speed, soak, then wash again 2 min low speed - but I get no agitation at all. Everything else seems fine with the cycles - fill, rinse, spin, drain - all work fine. During the time when the low speed agitation should be occurring - I hear a rhythmic ticking sound until that low speed cycle is complete - then the washer continues on to the drain and spin part of the cycle. Thanks so much for any suggestions or help you can provide!
Answer Judy, You will want to check the motor when set for the low speed to see if the motor is getting power. You will want to check for 120 vac across the orange and white wires on the motor. If there is power then the low speed winding is bad and would need to be replaced. If there is no power then the timer is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
