Paul for Model Number cap2761jq0 The motor on this unit will only hum, but does not rotate. After pulling the pump, I can spin the shaft and the motor will start - either direction. Then it will agitate and spin properly. I checked the capacitor, and it seems to be giving 19 mfd (give or take a decimal point) anyway, it loogs good. The motor start switch was loose, and removing it, it seems there is a bit of wear on the part that rides on the centrifugal switch. Should I take a stab at replacing the switch - it seems possible that is is not allowing the start winding to engage, so the motor just hums.
Answer Paul, If you removed the pump and the unit started spinning and agitating then you will want to check to make sure that the pump is not seized or clogged. If this checks ok then yes the motor switch could be at fault. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, July 2, 2013
