Linda for Model Number ED20PKXXN00 My refrig freezer quit freezing and the food compartment is warm. It will be running for awhile and then just shut off. Only way I can get the refrigerator to come back on is if I turn the control thermostat all the way off, and then it will turn back on again. But still doesn't get colder than 40 degrees in the refrig and nothing will freeze in the freezer. If I turn the control thermostat up, it will throw the breaker. I've used an ohm meter to check the control thermostat, the defrost timer, the defrost heater, and I've replaced the bimetal defrost thermostat. All this checked out good. Both the condenser fan and evaporator fan are running fine. Could there be a problem with the compressor? When it's running it sounds fine. There's no humming or clicking. Also, when I replaced the defrost bimetal thermostat, I was wondering what the different colord wires mean with the thermostat. The original bimetal thermostat had pink and brown wires. The replacement that was sent to me for this model of refrigerator had white and red wires. I spliced the white wire of the new thermostat to the brown wire and the red wire to the pink. Any suggestions???
Answer Hello Linda. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the cold control WP2198202 may be bad on the unit. If you turn it up, and it blows the breaker, you will need to replace the control. Hope this helps. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, December 16, 2011
