Tim for Model Number ARB224RCC I have an Amana (ARB224RCC)purchased approximately 2003. It suddenly stopped cooling (both freezer and frig are at room temperature). 1) Power to the relay is 120v. 2) Both fans are working fine. 3) The compressor was hot to the touch before unplugging the frig. 4) The three contacts on compressor are NOT shorted out to compressor shell. 5) The relay itself is full of small black particles (like course ground pepper). They fall out with shaking. 6) Attempting to discharge the capacitor after removal showed it was NOT charged at all. Does a bad relay seem the most likely problem at this point? Does the capacitor being discharged mean anything? Does the compressor being hot-to-the-touch mean anything?
Answer Hello Tim. Yes, based on the information you provided, the relay overload WP12555902 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, May 30, 2012
