Jon for Model Number Maytag mdb7749aww1 Hi, the machine will not start. I push in the normal setting but no start light and will not engage when pushed. I researched on the internet and found that if I push normal-heaters 2 times quickly that the machine will enter diagnostic mode. I did this and all lights lit up on the control panel and the washer ran a shorter cycle, about 20 minutes. I took the control panel off and could see no corrosion or anything out of place. I read that there could be a problem with the door latch but that seems to be fine, I have to give it a good tug to open it. The dishwasher is only 3 years old and Maytag wants $80.00 just to walk into my house lalong with labor and parts. I would like to try to fix it but I'm obviously not able to determine the problem. Best buy has a new Whirlpool on sale this week for $249.00 and it may be advantageous for me to go that route. I would appreciate your advise. Thanks.
Answer Jon, You're on target, the keypad assembly ribbon has a problem and is giving false inputs to the control board. Replacement is relatively easy, usually takes 15 to 20 minutes to replace, If you have basic skills and tools you can do it yourself, and save quite a bit of money.
