Manufacturer Part Number: WP35-6780

The Washer Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is vital for draining water from the washer drum during the wash and rinse cycles. The pump forces water out of the drum and through the drain hose, ensuring that clothes are cleaned and rinsed effectively.

Symptoms of a failing Washer Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining from the washer, leaving clothes wet
  • Unusual noises during the drain cycle, such as humming or grinding
  • Error codes on the washer's display indicating drainage issues
  • Water leaks from the pump area or from the washer
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle due to drainage problems

Causes of a bad drain pump assembly can include obstructions from debris, wear and tear on the pump motor over time, electrical issues such as short circuits, or damage from improper installation or usage.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Note: This pump has been redesigned and the mounting plate is no longer required. It now mounts directly to the base of the washer.

Hello Raj, The easiest way to access this pump is through the access panel in the back. Loosen one screw and remove the other three. Set the panel aside and reach inside and remove the hose clamps from both of the hoses to the pump. These are normally 5/16 inch hex head on the clamps. The three bolts securing it to the main base are 3/8 inch hex. The motor is on a spring loaded mount so you only have to flip the belt off. The pump will lift out now. After you put the new pump in and connect the hoses, don't forget to reinstall the belt before you try the machine. The belt will just "roll" onto the pulleys by rotating them.
