The Washer Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is vital for draining water from the washer drum during the wash and rinse cycles. The pump forces water out of the drum and through the drain hose, ensuring that clothes are cleaned and rinsed effectively.

Symptoms of a failing Washer Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining from the washer, leaving clothes wet
  • Unusual noises during the drain cycle, such as humming or grinding
  • Error codes on the washer's display indicating drainage issues
  • Water leaks from the pump area or from the washer
  • The washer stopping mid-cycle due to drainage problems

Causes of a bad drain pump assembly can include obstructions from debris, wear and tear on the pump motor over time, electrical issues such as short circuits, or damage from improper installation or usage.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Note: This pump has been redesigned and the mounting plate is no longer required. It now mounts directly to the base of the washer.

Hello Chaenika. If it is a roaring sound, the bearings W10219156 are bad. Also the snubber ring WP21002026 will cause the unit to shake during spin. So you may need to replace both.

Kimber516, You will want to remove the front panel from the unit by using a putty knife and pushing the spring clip between the main top and the front cover. Remove the 2 screws holding the front cover and remove the front cover of the unit. The closing the lid run a load and see if you can detect any leaking from the drain pump or from around the gearcase where it goes into the tub. Also check the pressure hose to make sure that it is still connected to the tub. These would be the most likely causes for the leaking if the washer is leaking.

Hello gatorsteeler. You can try turning the pump by hand and see if it is locked up. If not, then either the water valve is bad and not filling the unit or the motor is bad and is humming. Also, make sure the timer is not bad and powering both the spin and agitate function of the motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Sat R. for Model Number MAV7580EWW

My Maytag washing machine was making a noise constantly during the entire run. The noise only stopped when the spinning stopped. After opening the front panel I determined the noise was coming from the drain pump and I was ready to place an order for the pump today to replace later this week. Well, someone started a wash this morning and the noise continued but this time it stopped running completely and I noticed a burning smell. I tried to start a spin cycle but nothing happens. I have not opened the washing machine but wanted to check with the PRO's on what might have happened and not spinning. Thank you for your help.

Sat, The noise was from the drain pump shaft bearings, The shaft has finally seized to the bearings in the pump housing and stalled the washer causing the burn odor and no spin. Order and replace the drain pump WP35-6780 and seriously consider a new drive belt WP22003483 the excess "drag" from the worn bearings could cause the belt to deteriorate and fail prematurely.
