Mr Whirl for Model Number LSR8233JQ1 My washer fills, agitates but won't drain. The lid switch was trashed and with a new one from you it worked great. Now, 6 mos later, it fills and agitates but won't go further. It makes an electrical hum noise like it wants to do something but stops after a minute. About 10 mins later it tries again and won't advance so it stops. I did an ohms test on the lid switch and it is good. After turning the drain pump gears it worked again for a few months but now it is doing it again? Any ideas. Should the drain pump gears be able to spin in both directions?
Answer Hello. Remove the pump and see if it is bad. It should turn both ways when removed. If the pump is good, all signs are leading to either the motor, timer, or bad brake sticking on the unit. Check the brakes first. It is common for the brakes to stick. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/washer-repair/3265-replacing-direct-drive-washer-brake-shoes.html Read More...
