Brittany for Model Number 11029812890 I was washing a comforter in my Kenmore 80 series washer and it stopped during the rinse cycle. It will spin but the water does not drain. The water has either become discolored and dark in a matter of a day or I'm not sure if there is another problem. What part should I check first? Please help.
Answer Hi Brittany. Remove power. Use a dozen towels and a shop vac for the water pick up. 2- options. A- completely remove the cabinet for total accessibility to parts - or - B , Pull the unit out 3/4 of the floor area and lean it back. The first option is to loosen the control panel screws and flip the control up and backwards. Then unhook the lid switch. Then remove the top 2- brass colored clips that hold the cabinet to the frame and back. Open the lid and reach inside the top lip at 6:00. Lift up and "unhook" the front lower / cabinet to the frame. Walk backwards and "undress" the unit. You will be able to hand access the pump. Or on the lifted unit, you can also unhook each intake and output hose(make sure you know where each one goes). Use a big flat blade screwdriver to unclasp the top and bottom clips from the motor to the pump. Pull the pump off the shaft. Clean all carpet backing from the hoses and the pump part # WP3363394. Reassemble in reverse. Make sure that you are fully aware of the top frame locator's tabs as the inside cabinet lower areas rely on proper placement so the top / back clips align correctly.
