Answer Hello Marilyn, The inner tub has a balance ring made in it that is filled with a saline solution. When the load spins, the liquid will sling to the opposite side, balancing the load. They use a saline solution so the water won't stagnate. If this were to happen, the stagnated water could expose families to illnesses un-necessarily.
