Lisa for Model Number LGR8648LW0 Dryer heats up or 5-10 minutes, then (because I have a diverter on the dryer vent to help warm the basement) I smell gas for a moment, and the air comes out cool. Five minutes later, heat comes back, and so it continues. Dryer will run all night drying a load, odd thing is the timer works, will count down, will cool and stay cooling, but when I have set to detect dryness, even when the clothes eventually dry, it stays at setting. Also, I replaced the coils 8 months ago (never smelled gas, and heated up once or twice and stayed cool, there was also clicking that I don't hear this time.
Answer Hello Lisa. It sounds like the cycling thermostat WP3387134 may be bad. This is what turns the heat on and off based on the heat inside the dryer. Make sure the venting system is clear from cloggs and kinks. Hope this helps. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, April 1, 2011
