Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10110491

The Whirlpool spark module is an OEM replacement part responsible for controlling the ignition and sparking of the gas burners in a Whirlpool range or cooktop. The spark module is typically located behind the control panel or near the burners, and it generates the electrical sparks needed to ignite the gas for cooking.

Causes of a bad module can include electrical surges, physical damage, or simply wear and tear over time.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Gas burners fail to ignite or have weak or inconsistent sparks
  • Continuous sparking even after the burner is lit
  • No spark at all when attempting to ignite the burners
  • Unresponsive or non-functional burner control knobs
  • Visible damage, such as burn marks or corrosion, on the spark module

The Whirlpool spark module can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Answer

Dave, Yes this part is a "new manufactured part" The manufacturer has "substituted the original spark module with this component. All parts purchased from AppliancePartsPros.com are "new" and ordered and supplied by the manufacturers of the product. Wiring the new part is a simple process. The four(4) smaller 1/8 in. terminals are for the burner igniter wires to attach to, wire position isn't critical on this type spark module. The three wires on the left are more critical, if you look at the area you should see words or emblems, stamped in the body of the part, "L" is line voltage into the spark module and have a Black wire attached to it, "N" is the neutral leg of the power supply and should have a White wire attached to it. The third terminal will have an "arrow" or "grnd" stamped on it and a Green ground wire attached to it. If there is no green wire, then the spark module will ground itself to the chassis when the module is attached to the burner box.
