By: Whirlpool

Manufacturer Part Number: 12001596

The Spark Module Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool ranges. It is responsible for generating the spark needed to ignite the gas burners on the cooktop. The spark module sends electrical signals to the igniters, creating the spark that lights the gas for cooking.

Over time, the spark module can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to moisture, or normal wear and tear. When the spark module becomes faulty, it can lead to various problems with igniting the burners.

Symptoms of a bad spark module include:

  • Burners not lighting or taking a long time to light
  • No clicking sound when turning the burner knob
  • Burners only lighting intermittently
  • Visible sparks or arcing from the module

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

NOTE: This part is only compatible with serial numbers starting with 21 and up on model 8351VV.

Then start at the spark module 8215557 and valve switches WP74007696. You'll need to remove the grates, burner caps and burner bases(two screws each) remove the drip pans then raise the glass panel up and off the burner box frame, Be careful with the glass, make sure you turn off the gas supply and remove power to the cooktop, before you start anything..
