Neil for Model Number MGR5710ADW Help, how do I know which ignitor/PN's in my oven to replace? The oven takes forever to preheat and took 4 hours to cook some potatoes last night!! Does my oven have more than one ignitor inside my oven?
Answer Neil, Your oven will have a bake and broil igniter. If the unit preheats then the issue would most likely not be the igniter but the safety valve coils. If the coils are open to quickly then the unit will take too long to preheat and cook. Here is what you want to do Test for 3.2-3.6 amps at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
