Pete B. for Model Number Jenn Air / Maytag JES8850BAB Multiple burners seem to randomly shutoff at different times while cooking. Should I replace all the infinite switches or is this a burner limiter issue? How can I test to be sure? I believe that if I leave a burner on high for about 10 minutes I should consistently see the element being red?
Answer Hello Pete, This sounds like you may have a poor electrical connection between the terminal block and the surface element circuits. Pull the unit, unplug it and make sure all of the nuts on the terminal block are tight. If this is not the issue and no other problems are located, the infinite switches should be replaced for the surface elements giving the issue. The limiters for each element will turn the power off to the surface elements when a pre-determined temperature has been achieved. Read More...
