Gerry W How do I tell if the switch on a stove or the element is bad.?? My switch on the whirlpool glass top wasn't working , so I took it off and then replaced it while waiting for a new one. Now when the switch is turned on, the light on the stove goes on showing the switch on, but the burner does not get hot. Not sure if switch or element is bad. Thanks
Answer Hello Gerry. Test for 120 volts on H1 and H2 when the switch is turned on. If it is there, the switch is good and the element is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
