Robert What are the differences in the infinity switches for 6" (green dot 316436000) heating elements and 8" (red dot 316436001) heating elements for stovetop burners? Why aren't they interchangeable? What would happen if you swap one for the other? Also, is there a difference between infinity switches for 8" heating element that are labelled with a red dot (316436001) vs a black dot (WB24T10029) or are they interchangeable? Answer Robert, The infinite switch uses a bi-metallic strip. As current passes through the bimetal connection, it will heat up and deform, opening the contacts turning the power to the element on and off. This is based on the resistance of the element, therefore the 6-inch will be different from the eight-inch and they are not interchangeable. Read More...
