Doug for Model Number Maytag dishwasher Our Maytag washer wasn't filling. I bought the water inlet valve which seemed to be what was recommended. It still didn't fill so I looked at the float switch, took it out and tested it. It worked perfectly. I looked at the little plastic lever and the pin that drops down to push the lever into the float switch. The pin did not drop down all the way and there was a 1/8 " gap between it and the lever. When I manually pushed the lever up to the float switch, the dishwasher worked. So my guess is that the pin is supposed to drop down against the lever, keeping the float switch closed and allowing it to fill. When the water level rises, the pin will rise and eventually, the lever will open the float switch (i.e. create an open circuit.) So this is my question: how do I fix this?
