Oscar W for Model Number LA5380XS I have a top-loading Whirlpool direct drive washer which does not drain. When the washer reaches the drain portion of the cycle it simply shuts off, doesn't drain or make any noise. I was able to drain the water out of the tub by putting the end of the drain hose into a bucket on the ground. I also noticed that the washer continues to operate even if the lid is raised. Answer Hello Oscar. You eill need to check the lid switch W10820036 on the unit and see if it is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
