For Whirlpool Washer Lid Switch Assembly (Part Number: OEM17951247)

Sam, if the pressure switch W10337780 has continuity from the violet wire to the pink wire at the time of failure, the failure would be in the timer WP3948850. Unfortunately, this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

Cory, the lid switch 3949247V would be used with the model provided. The extra length can be looped in the console so that it fits neatly.

Larry, It sounds likely that the hinge may not be making contact with the lid switch so you will want to check this. If the hinge is meeting with the lid switch properly then the lid switch is the most likely cause for this issue.

Dee, move the timer to the spin cycle, take a small screw driver and press it down into the lid switch, you should hear a slight click and the washer should start to spin. If you do not hear the click and the washer does not start to spin, replace the lid switch, part number is 3949247V

Emma for Model Number LSQ9544KQ0

My washing machine (17 years old) has problems advancing to the next part of the cycle. I was able to finish a load only by moving the dial to three different cycles (normal, permanent press and delicates) to do the tasks of draining, rinsing and spinning. The washer stopped when going from high to low agitation, and before it would drain. I read that this may be due to the timer switch being broken (although not fully broken as I finally got it to drain and spin using the delicates cycle) or perhaps the lid switch being broken. How can I know which one it is? thanks

1 Answer

Emma, With the timer not advancing the timer would be the most likely cause for this issue.

Reid S. for Model Number lsr8433kq0

Hello sirs, I had to disassemble my washer and now it shakes on spin, which it didn't do before. There are two little gold colored pins that look like nails with a flat on the shank, and a small hole near the point, which go through holes in the triangular base with the damper pads. I cant locate these on diagram. They have a little translucent plastic cup under them. I thought they may be shear pins to assist repair as the cup would catch the piece if they broke and fell out. I tilted the machine and one fell out, and I placed them through the two bottom holes, and the washer then shook violently; I removed the tub and saw there were three holes in a line they would fit through and placed them there but the machine still shakes. Are they needed and properly located or do you think I stretched the springs and/or do I need the friction pads replaced? Thank you in advance for your kind attention to my question.

1 Answer

Reid, You do not want those pins in place because they are just for shipping purposes and with them being in place the unit will shake.
