Answer Hello Terry. Replacing the timer on your dryer is not too difficult of a job. Here are the steps to replacing the timer. Pull the timer knob off of the control panel face. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws that secure the front of the control panel to the top of the dryer. Grab the control console at both ends with your hands. Pull up on the control panel and toward you to release the rear tabs. Flip the control back into its service position. It will rest on its hinges in this position. Use needle nose pliers to grab the wire leads, and pull them off the dryer timer terminals. These are slip-on type leads and will pull straight off the terminal. Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws that secure the timer to the back of the control console. Set the new timer inside the control console, and secure it using the two screws. Reconnect the wires to the terminals on the new timer. The leads will slip over the terminal ends. Pull the control panel down, and insert the rear tabs into the slots on top of the Whirlpool dryer. Secure the front of the control panel to the dryer top using the two retaining screws. Push the timer knob back over the timer shaft on the front of the control panel. Hope this helps, and good luck.
