Steve for Model Number WGD5310SQ0 My Whirlpool gas dryer timer won't finish in all modes and the ignitor doesn't turns on. The timer moves in timed mode but doesn't make it to the finish point where dryer buzzes and turns off. I replaced the timer but still have the same issue. Found that the thermal fuse blew, jumpered the wires together to test and the ignitor did turn on, but timer issue remained. I'm ordering a new fuse but I'm not sure what to do about the timer?
Answer Hello Steve, I would verify the gas valve coils with a meter and make sure the flame sensor reads closed. The thermal fuse only opens when a ducting issue exists so you should verify a full 4 inch diameter duct to the outside of the home. The ducting issue can cause an issue with timer advancement but this will only occur on automatic cycles. Also verify there is no harness issue and the thermostat heater is not open, (these are the two small terminals on the cycling thermostat with violet wires to both). Be sure your meter is set to a high resistance setting since it can have anywhere from 10K ohms to 50K ohms of resistance. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, December 23, 2014
