Mark for Model Number WED 4800XQ1 I ordered the replacement part for my whirlpool dryer but the new timer did not have a place to connect the orange wire to it , like the old timer. I checked the part number and it shows I have the correct one. If you can help me out I would appreciate it.
Answer Mark, The WP3979618 / WP3979618 Timer is the correct part for the model number you supplied. It appears the printed labels are slightly off on the replacement timer. on that side of the timer the violet/purple colored wire will attach to the terminals labeled "V". The white/black wire will attach to the brass colored terminal at the opposite corner of the timer. and the orange wire will attach to the remaining terminal (which appears to be the WB terminal) and there is no terminal in the OR slot in the timer body.
