When in agitate mode machine just humms, in spin cycle is fine. Could it be the timer?

Hello Jon. Yes, if the spin contact is stuck in the timer, and you set it on agitate, the power will be sent to both terminals of the motor and the motor will just hums. It sounds like the timer WP8541110 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps.
