This mechanical washer timer controls the sequence and duration of wash, rinse, and spin cycles. Replacing a worn timer restores proper cycle advancement and consistent operation when the washer stalls, skips steps, or only progresses when the knob is turned.

  • Controls and sequences power to the drive motor, water inlet valves, and drain pump per the selected cycle
  • Advances the machine through fill, agitate, drain, rinse, and spin intervals
  • Provides internal contacts that start/stop each step and signal the next stage
  • Common symptoms: no cycle advance, stopping mid-cycle, intermittent operation, or advancing only when manually turned
What's included: Timer assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; do not work on a live appliance
  • Access the control console; remove the panel/cover to reach the timer
  • Photograph and transfer wires one at a time to matching terminals to avoid miswiring
  • Mount the new timer securely and align the shaft with the knob/dial before reassembly

Answer

Hi. If your timer buzzer's and chatters at the same time then replace it with part # WP22001924. If you have to manually advance the timer then the inside cam gears have worn out on this spot and needs replaced. Also use a bucket and flush out the fill hoses sediment one at a time. Look at the back of the water valve at the inlet screens where the hoses hook up. Mainly the cold side will clog up and not allow cold water fill. If the humming is coming from the water valve then you need to replace it. If you have a unit with the first 2 serial numbers starting with 10 then it takes part # WP22001274. If the serial # starts with 14 then you need water valve part # WP22002360. Thank You.
