This mechanical washer timer controls the sequence and duration of wash, rinse, and spin cycles. Replacing a worn timer restores proper cycle advancement and consistent operation when the washer stalls, skips steps, or only progresses when the knob is turned.

  • Controls and sequences power to the drive motor, water inlet valves, and drain pump per the selected cycle
  • Advances the machine through fill, agitate, drain, rinse, and spin intervals
  • Provides internal contacts that start/stop each step and signal the next stage
  • Common symptoms: no cycle advance, stopping mid-cycle, intermittent operation, or advancing only when manually turned
What's included: Timer assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; do not work on a live appliance
  • Access the control console; remove the panel/cover to reach the timer
  • Photograph and transfer wires one at a time to matching terminals to avoid miswiring
  • Mount the new timer securely and align the shaft with the knob/dial before reassembly

Leah, once you have the washer timer released and lowered out of the dryer cabinet on the sides of the timer assembly, there will be two small "tabs"(one on each side of the timer), press In on the two tabs and pull the timer wiring block out or away from the timer. Install the wiring block onto the new timer and push in on the block until the black tabs engage the timer housing and "pop" and lock in place. Thanks,

Alliecat, it would be recommended that the lid switch is tested for continuity to ensure that it is making proper contact as the clicking does not guarantee that it is operating properly. It is also recommended that the out of balance arm and switch are inspected to ensure that they are not being activated from a possible out of balance situation. To access the timer section, there are two screws under the panel that will need to be removed, allowing the control panel to be moved from the upper lock tabs.

Calbob, The endcaps are what holds the control panel in place and you would access by removing the angled panel and then should be able to get the panel to reinstall it.

Hello George. You will need to check the lid switch and fuse 12001514 to see if it is bad. If it is good, then the timer would be the next part to check. Thank you.

Hello Damon, This sounds from the description, like a "dead spot" in the washer timer WP22001924. The timer could be checked for voltage to the timer motor at the point it stops. If voltage is to it, the timer is the issue for sure. If not, it could be another component in the circuit like the water temperature switch 22001923, pressure switch 12002304, or the cold water valve WP22002360 for series 14 and higher or WP22001274 for series 13 and lower. As a note, the first two numbers of the serial number denotes the series number.

Daniel, Based on the description, the issue would more likely be caused by a timer in which the contacts are sticking. The motor will spin one direction for spin and the other direction for agitate.

Ed, You will want to check the screens on the water valve to ensure that it is clean and not blocking water flow. Also check to see if the water valve is getting power when the washer is turn on and calling for water. If the valve is getting power then replace the water valve WP22002360.
