Henry for Model Number Maytag LAT9714AAE Recently I've noticed that the washer does not always start after filling with water. At first, after a minute or so the machine would start agitating on it's own. Then I would have to turn the timer dial slightly (nudge it), but now I have to push the button in then pull it out to get it to start, sometimes several times and then hold it out. Also today I noticed that while pumping out the water prior to rinse, it just stopped without finishing the pump out/spin. As during the wash cycle, the timer was moving through the cycle but stopped it's action. I had to push in/pull out to restart. Is this indicative of a timer failing? Everything else seems to be working fine. My timer part # appears to be 6-2083430B which is different from your number. If I need a new timer, is yours a direct repalcement? Thanks.
Answer Hello Henry, You may want to look for intermitent contact in the lid switch. Check for a switch that is opening during wash or spin. If the switch reads open when the lid is closed then it is bad. You may want to check when the unit is operating. Watch for loss of power to the switch. Read More...
