Marian for Model Number LAT9304AAE The issue initially started a week ago. The washer would fill, but I would have to pull the switch out and hold it for several seconds before it would stay in the on position and agitate. Now, the washer will fill and the lid makes a "click" sound each time it is open. However, it will not agitate. If I leave it in the cycle, eventually it does drain and spin.
Answer Marian, There are a couple of things to check and do. Remove power to the washer, remove the two inner screws from the top of the control panel and lower the control panel assembly. Check the fuse WP22001555 mounted on the lid switch assembly WP22001682 if the fuse is blown, the washer will not fill and agitate, but it will spin and drain. If the fuse is blown, check the check switch(the smaller switch) to make sure it clicks when the lid is raised if it works properly replace the fuse, if it doesn't replace the switch assembly. Then, Pull out on the timer knob so it stays extracted, remove the center of the knob and remove the retainer clip be careful and don't let the knob fly off the shaft and loose the spring and slowly remove the knob and dial. Place a small dab of "Vaseline" or a couple of drops of house hold "3 in 1 oil" on the metal timer shaft and the white plastic housing closest to the metal casing. Push in on the knob, and repeat the process on the shaft and plastic on the back side of the timer shaft. Reinstall the knob, dial and spring, etc. and push and pull on the knob several times. remount and secure the control panel, plug the power cord back into the outlet and test the washer for operation.
