Debra M. for Model Number LA18035AAE My washer is stopping mid cycle. sometimes it will start up again. sometimes pushing on the control button helps. this mostly happens in the rinse cycle, but it is getting progressively worse. this leads me to believe it is the timer. its not the water valve. we are getting cold water. is it the timer? the washer is 20 years old. is it worth repairing?
Answer Debra, Replacing the WP22001530 timer is a good possibility, but before you replace it, check the lid and the lid switch assembly WP22001682 If there is too much movement in the lid, the lid switch plunger can get deactivated and cause the washer to stop. The check and adjust or replace the lid switch assembly WP22001682. You should be able to raise the lid approximately 1 inch, before you hear the lid switch "click" open. Read More...
