Freddy K for Model Number MAH5500AWW Have a Maytag MAH5500AWW. Replaced bearings and seal. While I was it, also replaced door boot and 80 watt drain pump. Sometime ago the washer had the control board and wax motor replaced, because of the usual R11 being burnt by the old brown tip wax motor. Anyway, reassembled and did test loads. On either the Whites or Colours settings, washer fills, tumbles and does the 1st drain. 2nd and 3rd drains don't happen. Instead the recirculating pump is on. Final spin cycle doesn't get past critical speed - and water remains in tub at end. I tried a cycle on the Delicates setting, and this one works correctly, with water drained and spin at the expected slower speed. Cycles worked fine before the bearing change, even though washer was full of 14 years worth of gunk! But I did do serious banging to get bearings out & in. Wax motor function is ok, as is contact with spin enable switch. Checked all 3 switches in the unbalance control system & they're ok with continuity. Motor passed the test routine, motor control board is ok, and the windings all have 2 ohms. So what is next? Control board or is it the timer?
Answer Freddy, Based on the information this issue would be caused by a faulty timer on the unit. It sounds like the contact for the recirculation pump is stuck and not switching to the drain pump. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, April 4, 2014
