James A Arlington , MA June 24, 2017 Appliance: Model SHX46L05UC/24 Bosch diswasher display did not illuminate at power on however could power up the dish washer in special modes by depressing one or more buttons while powering up dishwasher did pass self test After checking everything (power switch, door lock switch, heater resistance, heater current, NTC resistance, resetting control unit) replaced control unit and dishwasher operates correctly. To save a chunk of money I ordered a newer design control unit for a different model Bosch dishwasher. I made sure the control unit had the same shape and display, and had the same water fill function (timed) by cross referencing the new control unit number by dishwasher model and then looking at Bosch's exploded parts diagram of that new model. New control unit has slightly different button functions, (may order new buttons) but works just as well. So my SHX46L05UC became a SHX55R55UC.
