This is a genuine replacement oil filter screen that is made for use in select models of chainsaws. This oil filter is made of durable metal and looks like a spring, designed to hold the paper-like filter that catches the debris before it gets into the engine. This oil filter is exposed to a lot of dirt and debris buildup which is why it should be cleaned or replaced as part of routine maintenance. However, replacing the oil filter holder and housing may not need to be done as frequently. Inspect all parts during maintenance for proper operation. If the oil filter becomes damaged or clogged, it will need replaced. This is a genuine OEM oil filter that is manufactured by Craftsman and designed for use in select models of chainsaws from the brand, as well as select units from Poulan, Husqvarna, and Snapper. The oil filter is sold as a single part and does not include hardware or additional components. Be sure to allow the engine to cool entirely before performing repairs and wear gloves to protect the hands. Because the oil filter is a common replacement, some people will keep an extra on hand in case of emergencies.
