This is a rear trail shield (also called a rear skirt or discharge chute deflector) that mounts to the back of a walk-behind lawn mower deck. It helps contain grass clippings and debris being expelled from the mower deck, directing them downward toward the ground. Replace this part if it is cracked, broken, missing, or no longer deflecting clippings properly, which can result in debris being thrown at the operator or bystanders.

This baffle is a genuine MTD part. It is made for use with walk-behind and self-propelled lawnmowers. It is a rear mulching baffle, which means that it aids in mulching lawn clippings, cutting them down into very small pieces. These clippings can either be disposed of, composted, or used as fertilizer. This mulching baffle is a genuine OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer and is sold individually. Most mowers have more than one baffle, so be sure to check if others also need to be replaced. This baffle is manufactured for compatibility with lawnmowers made by Bolens, Columbia, MTD Pro, White Outdoor, Yard Machines, and Yard-Man. Some of these models are electric mowers, while others are gas-powered. It is also compatible with some stand-alone mulching kits. Use the compatibility checker before purchasing.
