This is a gasket. A head cylinder receives air and fuel from the head and is separated by a gasket. This cylinder is one of the main components of the lawn mower's engine and is vital for proper starting and operation. Eventually, a problem with the head gasket system will lead to a non-functioning engine. If this part is failing, there may be a noticeable overburning of oil on the lawn mower. A thick white smoke may also begin originating from the exhaust system of the lawn mower. The head gasket system feeds directly to the exhaust after fuel intake. Malfunctioning and improper fuel consumption is what causes the white smoke. Exercise extreme caution and attention when making any repairs to the head gasket system. Drain all the oil before starting any work. Remove the head cover so the head and cylinder are visible. The head cover contains spark plugs. Remove the head cover by taking out the bolts and rocker arms. Remove the pushrods from the cylinder head the head bolts.
