How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP4434741 / 00676967 Control Unit

I ordered a new Bosch dishwasher control unit from AllianceParts. They did a great job as I ordered the wrong controller by mistake - it came really quickly (like in 2 days). I called and they send out the correct one and I got that in 2 days as well (regular shipping). The problem was that the model number was missing from the dishwasher and the manual only listed the base # so I got the wrong controller at first. When I pulled the old one I sent a photo to ApplianceParts and they identified the correct model as an SHV46C13UC/46 rather than the model SHV46C13UC/21 (incorrect) I initially ordered for. This is a Bosch refrigerator with a custom wooden panel. Some of the Torx screws in the door remove the wooden panel, others remove the stainless part of the door and still others remove the control panel unit at top. It is important to have something underneath as these can fall on the floor as you unscrew them. Replacing the controller was just a matter of plugging out some connectors and putting in the new controller and plugging them back in. I took a photo on my iPhone before I unplugged anything so I knew where everything went on the new unit. 

After having a repairman visit and quote $295 for a new controller unit, plus $200 labor, I decided to try FIY. We paid the repairman's $75 call fee without a second thought, as he identified the problem and the bad part. A neighbor helped me remove the many screws (starbit) and pull the door apart to locate the controller unit. (after we shut off power to the machine at the breaker box). We took an iPhone photo of the controller unit and put the door back together. We looked online at several sites for the part, but AppliancePartsPros.com not only had the part (Part 00676967), but also had the customer support by phone to steer us to their picture of the part, matching the photo we took. I paid $169 for the part (free shipping) and my neighbor and I installed it easily. It now works like new. 

Removed and replaced 

Removed the burnt circuit board and reinstalled the new one. 

Although most sources said that my problem was generally a mechanical part failure, my Bosch dishwasher seems to have more issues with the control board failing than the circulation pump being the problem. Replaced the Control Unit and the dishwasher is like new again. 

Washer did not dry dishes or get really hot and run time was very long and was starting to have a scum build up in the washer. I initially changed the heating unit and that did not fix it and then I saw a review with my same issue that was successful so I replaced the control unit and it has solved my problem. This part is very easy to replace, I did not even have to pull the washer out of the cabinet. I removed the outside of the door right in place. Took about 15 min. If you are not someone with a lot of tools you will need a star screw driver that you can pick up a set at harbor freight cheap. Hope this helps get out there and DIY. I did this because every time I try to hire a "professional" it seem they don't know anymore about what they are doing that I do. I can replace parts as well as anyone ! 

I found out that this was a common problem with older models. 99% of the time the repair is to replace the control unit. Being somewhat handy and not wanting to hire a repair tech I did a little research (looked at a few youtube videos of the actual repair). I discovered that the repair was a simple one. I will add that one thing that was stressed by the youtube technicians. Always use original factory parts. I found my replacement part (original part) at AppliancePartsPros.com. They were very professional and answered all my questions. I made the repair. The dishwasher is working fine and my wife is very happy!

Traced power outage to the dishwasher control board. Called appliance parts pros and ordered a new OEM control board. Arrived next day-sooner than expected. Easy installation. Very satisfied, will use Appliance parts pros in the future. 

After some online research, I luckily found someone else with the same issue. They also included a link to the correct control module, which was important because all the online parts suppliers were recommending the wrong part. I pulled mine out and compared photos and was confident I was getting the correct part for my dishwasher. I wish I could include photos to show how burnt my original control module was.
