How to Troubleshoot & Replace Bosch AP4483459 / 00668102 Sump Assembly

To diagnose the problem I pulled out the dishwasher from the counter and ran it until E15 code appeared while looking underneath for source of leaking water. The water was leaking around the sump where it mates up to the bottom of the dishwasher. The youtube video provided an excellent tutorial on how to replace the sump, so I went ahead and ordered the replacement from AppliancePartsPros.com and followed the instructions in the video. The project was very doable with a little bit of time. The dishwasher is working fine now with no more leaking or error codes. Thanks for the quick delivery (2 days) of the replacement part and for excellent youtube video instructions! 

I ordered the twirly thing first and put in it still didn’t hold. So then I ordered the part that the twirly thing attached to I believe it was the sump I put that in definitely not as easy as the twirly thing but no problem note though have a phone or something to take pics of the wiring cause a few of them can go in the wrong slots!! 

I found a small amount of water leaking between the bottom of the metal basin and the sump. The gasket was failing. I bought the sump assembly, it came with a gasket. I had to take my time, it was involved. I watched the how to video first, then again when I did the repair. I put everything back together, tried the dishwasher, no leaks. I forgot to connect one electrical connector, and had to pull the dishwasher back out and connect wire harness. All is good now. It took me 3 hours. It would’ve been 2 1/2 if I hadn’t made the one mistake. I’m pleased. 

1) Large o-ring gasket between sump unit and underside of the tub, stopped leaking for a few weeks, then began dripping from another location. 2) Replaced sump housing, has fixed leak so far. AppliancePartsPros video was extremely helpful, followed it step by step. Not a simple job. Three hours+ from pulling the dishwasher out to fully reinstalled and ready to run. DIYers do need to keep in mind that professionally made technician repair videos, while very helpful, always portray best case scenarios and feature technicians that know what they are doing every step of the way, so it will invariably look easier than the real-deal DIY experience. 

Replaced the sump, easy repair following the Appliance Parts Pros Youtube video, hose clamp for the pump was actually included with the sump. I wish I ordered the diverter valve gasket as well though. 

Removed and replaced the sump & pump assemblies. 

Finding the problem was a bit of a challange. Becuase on the 9 minute rinse cycle, the E-15 code didn't show up, and no water down below. What I had to do was pull the machine out, and take the bottom plate off. Then run a full one-hour cycle to find the leak. And there it was at around 45 minutes. Leaking from the sump to basin seal. I believe that it was only late in the cycle and maybe with heat, that the gasket would allow the water leak. For the repair, the video did the trick. So well done. The only difference in my Thermador machine was that we have the salt compartment for water treatment. 

The bleach sat in that area for a week. It damaged the sump pump. I removed the damaged sump pump and replaced it with a new one.
