How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP3583606 / 318185446 Controller

Researched online and confirmed with the VERY helpful Appliancepros chat staff that I needed a new control board. Ordered the board on a Thursday, received the NEXT DAY (wow!!) with just the regular shipping cost. Took less time to install and put the fascias back on than it did to remove the old one and the best part - YAY it works! I actually like the way the timer works better than on the old one. Overall, a great experience - helpful staff, reasonable and super fast shipping. I'd definitely come back for other parts. If you perform this repair yourself, make sure to mark the individual wires that connect to the board. On mine, there are TWO black wires that plug in right next to each other (I used electrical tape and a sharpie to designate which plug). Other than that, this is a super easy repair that anyone with a screwdriver and a little handiness can perform. Start with the two screws under the fascia (inside the lip when you open the door), then the ones on the top (2 on each side), remove the end caps (carefully), remove the outer fascia, unplug the oven light swtich and unscrew the ground, then unscrew the inner plates (there are two), tilt it towards you and unscrew the board. 

We ordered the controller (per some different online suggestions). It was VERY easy to install. You basically just unscrew the outer panel, then unscrew the controller, unplug 6 or 7 wires and plug them into the new controller. Worked perfectly after that! 

Broil and bake elements ohm out to spec. (18 - 20 ohms). power connectors appear normal. controller seemed to be final resort, even though oven relay audibly engaged and oven internal fan turns on. mike was confident the cntlr bd. was at fault. on his recommendation i ordered the $200 rpl part. hardest part was getting cover off then back on. however, unit came up like a champ ! just like mike ! as a mere homeowner if find ur expertise invaluable ! will not hesitate to pick-up the phone for the parts and service u provide. many thx ! by the way, the part arrived the next day ! impressive stuff 

After contacting Appliance Parts Pros(APP) they narrowed it down to 2 possibilities, I watched the repair video on replacing the controller and it went pretty fast(about 10 minutes). My controller was in front so I didn't have to unscrew a lot of screws. This was my first time working on the oven and It was easier than I thought. I recommend others contact APP and talk to the pros on first narrowing down the problem, watching repair video, and than save yourself a lot of money by doing it yourself. 

Replacing the controller was very easy. After killing power to the oven at the breaker, all the screws were easy to find and removing the old controller was simple. I recommend taking a picture of the wiring as it was attached to the old part to make attaching the new one simpler, although there are only three wires you could do wrong. You might also consider buying replacement plastic trim pieces for the front if any of yours have broken.
