Brad, based on the information provided, it sounds like the bake element is grounded out. This can be tested by accessing the back of the appliance, unplugging the power cord and removing the wires to the bake element, and testing from terminal to the oven chassis for continuity. If there is continuity on either terminal of the element, the bake element 318255006 would need to be replaced. However, if there is not continuity on either terminal, the oven control 318185446 would be the cause of failure.

Curt for Model Number 79046572400

I have this Kenmore range that had no lights on the the display but burners worked, did research and it pointed to control being suspect. ordered control and installed and am having same problem, so I checked breaker and am getting 120 volts on each side of breaker getting 240 across checked power block and am getting 240 volts on one side and nothing on other and nothing across power block is not damaged. at outlet am getting 120 volt on one side and 108 volts on other and 248 volts across both. I am puzzled by this. As always I appreciate all your help.

Hello, Curt. You need to check the thermal cut off thermostat p/n AP3211049 for continuity. According to the diagram it should have two violet wires coming to it. You can test it from the control board large disconnect plug between the two violet wires. This thermostat could be located under the cooktop or at the back of the oven, behind the rear panel. If there is no continuity - replace the thermostat. You may check the oven by placing a TEMPORARY jumper on the two terminals of the cut off thermostat. Good luck.

Boni, the black control panel is not available, however, stainless is available as part number 318041702. If you need the electric control behind the control panel it is part number 318010700. Unfortunately, this item has been discontinued with no further replacements or cross references available and our company is unaware of any other available sources. Sorry about that!
