How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP4424048 / 154665201 Heating Element

Replaced the heater element, per the video. Also had to connect a new terminal to one of the heater element wires. Once the heater was again connected electrically, the washer completed the entire wash cycle without hesitation. (During the time that the heater element was non-functional, the control "dial" would stop near the bottom, about half way through the cycle, and had to be advanced "one click" manually). The Heater Terminal Shield goes over the Heating Element Nut better if you subject the plastic to very hot water first. The entire repair cost about 1/10th the prices we were seeing for a new portable dishwasher washer. 

Removed old heating element and installed new one in. Watched you tube video and was very helpful. Quick and easy, saved me some money and hassle. 

I replaced the heating element and the thermostat because I didn't know which one could be the problem and the dishwasher is 10 years old, so I figured I would just do them both. The parts arrived in two days after I ordered them. The videos were helpful, but when I got the washer pulled out, I found the the wiring to the coil was burned up. My wife told me that she had smelled something burning a while back. Thanks for letting me know. So I had to cut off the old connector and directly connect the wire to the prong. We are on lock down, but luckily I had electrical tape on hand. Anyway, after putting it all together, it works great again. My wife was ecstatic and was very appreciative, if you know what I mean. 

It was easier to fix than I thought . Just removed the 2 screws that hold it to the counter. Slid it from under the counter. Did not have to lay it on it's side, just lay on the floor beside it and remove the 2 wires, remove the 2 nuts and push the Element out. Unhook the clips on the inside of the dishwasher from the Element. Reverse the process with the New Element. 

I removed the bottom or toe kick plate unhooked the electrical connectors, removed the nuts holding the old heating element in place and removed it than I reversed the process for the installation of the new heating element. 

Replaced heating element and repaired harness and installed 2 new nuts 

The thermostat went bad and the temperature in the dishwasher rose high enough to distort the heating element. The distorted heating element touched the bottom of the dishwasher and caused some of the plastic to melt. Thankfully, it did not melt through! With the help of AppliancePartsPros.com videos, I was able to easily replace both the thermostat and the heating element.

I purchased the parts I needed from the AppliancePartsPros.com and they arrived in two shipments, 1 day apart from each other (as scheduled). A few days later I installed the parts and all is good now (NO LEAK). AppliancePartsPros.com made it easy and I will use them again. 

My leak was caused by the deterioration of the brass flange above the gasket / washer that holds that gasket against the tub basin. The fix was very easy. 1-unplug the unit 2- remove the bottom flashing to access the under side of the unit. 3- unplug the two poles of the heating element. 4-with a 1/2" wrench, remove heating element nuts. 5- remove bottom wash rack and wash arm 6- remove heating element. 7- reverse all steps to install new heater element and element nuts.
