Wife said "The dryer's broken." When attempting to turn it on, just heard a motor hum sound. After trouble shooting, I discovered that the blower fan had loosened on its shaft, and jammed, causing the motor to fail.
While I had the dryer totally apart, and a blower and motor ordered, I decided to order items that I consider preventative maintenance that will extend the life of the dryer, including the belt, idler pulley, rear drum bearing assembly, drum felt seals, drum glides, front air seal, and the door switch. Short of the controls, there is nothing left to replace.
It takes about an hour to replace the felt seals and air seal, and they need to set for a day to let the high temp glue dry properly.
I did the assembly in less than 2 hours, plugged it in, and now have a newly refurbished quiet dryer. Wife is happy...Happy Wife, Happy Life!
Some would say it would have been smarter to replace this 16 year old dryer. I say, if I would have needed to hire a repair person, only the broken items would have been fixed, and it may have been smarter to replace the dryer.
However, since I'm pretty handy, and the dryer is relatively simple, I decided to repair rather than replace, and also replaced items that will extend the life of the dryer.
What I like about AppliancePartsPros is their great service and videos, fast shipping, and the fact that they provided all OEM (Frigidaire) parts.
I will be a customer forever!
