How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7215724 / WB44X45494 Bake Element

Replaced old bake element with new one. The video on the web site was good but all the cautions noted during the video did happen. I had to take the back off of the stove to get to one of the wire leads that had fallen into the "abyss". Hardest part of the repair was getting the oven door back on the stove. 

I ordered the replacement element. I received it within 3 days. It took about ten minutes to replace. Took out two screws pulled element out slipped off clasps and replaced with new one. I put the two screws back and it works. It was very easy. 

I didn't remove the door. I removed the two screws holding the bake element. As I pulled the bake element out one of the wires fell off. However, by removing the plate behind the oven it was easily recovered. It was an easy fix. 

I watched a video and did it myself! It was crazy easy! The customer service that placed my order was extremely knowledgeable and kind! Also, I saved an $80 service call doing it myself! 

Unplugged the oven, removed the back cover, unhooked the lower element from its connectors, and tested the resistance with an ohmmeter. It had no continuity at all, so i ordered the replacement. When that came, i unscrewed two screws from inside the back of the oven, pulled the old element, put the new one in and put the screws back. Then on the back side, i connected the spade plug on each end of the element to the appropriate wire, put the back cover back on, and plugged in the oven. 

Replaced sensor and lower heating element 

Easy install 

First I tried swapping similar sized burner coils but the same position still didn't work on Low. Since I was ordering a bake element for the oven anyway I threw in the control switch after watching the video on how to replace it. Looked easy enough, and it was. Burner works fine now. Kudos to the makers of the switch replacement video! 

Replaced with a new.bake element. 

After learning from GE the part was back ordered until Jan. 15, 2024. (Yikes! How was I going to do my holiday baking?) I called your company and with the help of Mike, the part was ordered & expedited to my home in two days. Yes, I had to pay extra but so worth it. Installation was less than 5 minutes.
