How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3790641 / WE3M26 Dryer Drum Front Support Bearing

Removed top, then removed front panel, popped off old support bearings, snapped in new (with new drum slides, 2 green, 2 white). Reassembled and test ran...a breeze! 

Replacing bearing slides and front support bearing. 

Moved and replaced the front bearing and nylon bearing pads 

Replaced the bearings and dryer drum support. Very easy and very fast! 

I replaced the glides and dryer drum front support bearing. I also replaced the timer.

Our GE dryer is 12 to 14 years old and I have done nothing to it in that time. It started making a chirping noise occasionally which developed into a loud squeal constantly. If your dryer starts making a chirping noise you should take a look immediately, it will save you some money. I figured it was a bearing of some kind, so I looked at what bearing type parts were on my dryer using Appliance Parts Pros website. They have videos on how to replace parts and I used those to disassemble my dryer. After disassembling the dryer I discovered the bearings in the front panel of the dryer were bad and the plastic housing was also defective. I replaced the plastic parts in the front panel, the bearings in the plastic parts, the drum bearing, the drum belt and the idler pulley wheel. While replacing the drum bearing, I discovered the heating element was brittle and replaced it as well. The squealing and chirping noises are now gone and the dryer is heating properly. I was able to do this repair easily using the videos on Appliance Parts Pros website. The cost of the parts was less than the cost of a new dryer which was worth it in my opinion, but if I were to add the cost of labor, then the cost of the repair would have exceeded the cost of a new dryer. 

Replaced all or the front drum support parts. 

The second time around I used OEM Parts from Appliance parts pros. First, I wasted time and money buying the parts from the web store that sells everything.
