How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP7185922 / WD05X30818 Heating Element

I replaced it with a new heating element. The job took me a couple of hours because you have to take the dishwasher completely out of the cabinet. Thus, you have to disconnect the electrical and all of the hoses to get to the heating coil connectors. The dishwasher was not installed correctly when we purchased the house so be prepared for unexpected challenges. Not too difficult of an install, but be prepared to run into possible unexpected issues. 

We ordered the heating element. 

The dishwasher had 2 issues. The flood valve was stuck, replaced with a locally acquired part. Did not have hot water, no steam, dishes not drying when cycle complete. I do not use the dry function, usually open and let hot water evaporate. Did not do this any longer. The heating element was bad, confirmed with a multimeter with the specs my sales rep gave me. Replaced in about half-hour start to finish including installation. Working great so far, issue resolved. The water is nice and hot and clean dishes again. Not APPs fault but FedEx didn’t deliver In the time frame expected. Was only 2 hours from me in the origin warehouse and it took 4 days to get. Fastest I could find but I felt it should’ve been delivered on Saturday. Overall, it was a good experience and easy repair thanks to APP assistance.

After reading many threads regarding similar issues with people's dishwashers. I was able to figure out how to get the error code that would tell me what wrong. After sharing the error code and the symptoms, Jake the tech stated what was needed, which in my case was switching out the heating element. Jake told me which part number I needed (via a link) along with a video on how to switch out the heating element. It was a breeze and I saved lots of money. Spent $55

Had to replace the heating element for it to seal tightly again. 

I replaced the heating element. That did not solve the problem. A video on YouTube suggested that I make sure the rinse aid reservoir was full. I added rinse aid, and the problem is now solved!
