How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3202258 / WR55X10298 Interface Disp Asm Bk

Asked for advise fro the Appliance pros and they sent me the correct item. 

Attempted to fix by replacing interface display assembly. Did not fix problem. Will probably need to order a control board. 

This was by far one of the easiest repairs I have done. With the instructions and the video I watched. It took me longer to lay out some extra tools "just in case" than the repair took. It went without a hitch always use the instructions they give you. 

Easy to remove old interface and snap in new unit. Took only 2 mins to repair and it looks and works like new. 

Replaced the ice auger motor. The fix was really easy. The part was exactly what was necessary. Working great now. The replacement took less than 15 minutes. The cracked water dispenser screen was really easy to replace. The instructions included were easy to follow, and the fix took less than 10 minutes! 

Went to the web site and filled in the model # and told them the problem. They told me some simple tests to make and I did them which helped me make a diagnosis. I then went and ordered the part that I needed. The web site suggested some additional parts which I did order because I was already there so it made sense to replace them at the same time. When I was all done, the control board that I replaced did not work. I called the help # and they came to the same conclusion that I did. The new board the I just received was also bad. They were very helpful and a new board is on the way. Lastly, I ordered the parts at about 3 pm and paid for the faster shipping and received them the next day. All I can say is WOW, I am impressed. 

I tried the obvious fix first, which was to replace the switch activated by the lever. But that didn't fix the problem. Next, I replaced the interface display, to which the switch connects. That fixed the problem. 

Made an educated guess based on Google and YouTube searches as well as AppliancePartsPros that the Interface Display Assembly was the culprit. Very easy repair/replacement. 

I order the part from Appliance Parts Pros.com, watched installation video and put it in. It was as easy as that!!!!! I am a single mom with no experience with refrigerator repair but I do not the money to pay for a repair person to come out to the house. My kids will only drink filtered water and it has to be cold. I don't like to buybottle water because I am trying to reduce my carbon footbrint on the planet so buying plastic, even though I do recycle it, is not a long term option for me. I needed to fix this myself and had no idea what to do. I was so gratfeul for the helpful video and the manual with the diagram that helped me to troubleshoot and order the correct part and for the video that showed me how to replace the part. I couldn't be more happy with the outcome. Thanks Guys. I really appreciate it. 

I replaced it with the new part I ordered from Appliance Parts Pros. Quick and easy.
