How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP2030968 / WB44K5012 Oven Bake Heating Element

Ordered the part at 4 pm and the part was at my doorstep the next day at 2:30 pm. Two screws and 15 minutes later the oven was repaired and working. 

Installed a new bake element purchased from AppliancePartsPros.com. This was a simple installation, but the instructional video linked to the email (order confirmation) was impressive. Had there been a question, it was right in my mail box to view. I needed to replace the oven broil element on my 15 year old GE range/oven unit. The broil element was broken in half during an oven self-cleaning cycle. Due to the age of the oven, I decided to replace both the broil and bake elements. I ordered the elements from Appliance Parts Pro. Their web site made it very easy to identify and locate the correct replacement parts. The parts arrived in 2 days. I watched the repair demo videos available for each element. Although the oven used in the demo was somewhat different from mine, the video provide a good walkthrough of the repair and a couple of good tips which helped greatly. I removed the old elements and installed the new elements without a hitch. Overall, I had a great experience and saved a significant amount of money. I will definitely purchase from Appliance Parts Pros in the future. Highly recommended. 

The replacement arrived in good time. Even though I was careful removing the old element, a wire slipped behind. I taped the other wire to the door. I opened back electrical cover to find the free wire. Fished that through to oven where helper held while I taped to the oven. Placed replacement element in place. I was able to connect both wires. Being careful to keep the element in place, I removed the tape. Next, I screwed back into the back of the oven. Finally, I turned on the oven to test the new element. 

It was easy to determine that the element was burnt-out by observation of a damaged area. After searching and looking for an online replacement I found that my original part had been discontinued due to age. I noticed on this website that they offered a cross reference and found a compatible element and it was listed for $15 less than some of the other sites. The shipping was fast and the element was identical to what I replaced. Installation was easy by turning off the breaker supplying power and a couple of screws, and plugging in. 

Was a really easy repair I ordered new element from PartsPro and recived part in two days removed two screws unplugged burnt element plugged new element replaced screws and voila fixed. Now on to my complaint element was poorly packaged box was crumpled due to being so lightweight causing element to be all bent up. ??I had to straighten ends and bracket thankfully it was not broken! 

Replaced Surface Elements. Easily unscrewed the Oven Bake Element to replace it. Not all G.E. products are what they used to be.Getting replacement parts in was sooner than expected. 2 days instead of 7. Thanks. Much cheaper to prepare meals at home than eat at a restaurant or fast food. 

After a dazzling display of sparks ,arcing ,fire and then a cool down period,an easy fix awaited. First be sure your ordering the right element then order from appliancepartspros.com , lots of parts ez online chat and very fast shipping. DISCONECT POWER AT BREAKER When disconnecting the old element it's important to hold the spade connector with needle nose pliers as you pull the element out and expose the connection.The back of the oven is filled with insulation and causes a resistance on the wire .If the spade connector pulls off it will snap back through the hole into the insulation them you will have to fish it out of there and probably have to pull the range out. Simple fix 3/8 wrench remove two bolts ,disconnect /reconnect spade connector s one at a time to new element ,replace two bolts.Done. 

Your online repair video was invaluable, epecially the warning to not let the wires slip back behind the oven when removing the defective element. I used painters tape to secure them until I got the new element attached. It was helpful to see no re-wiring would be needed, just slide on the connectors. 10 minute repair by a 60 year old woman that would have cost hundreds to have done by a repairman in my remote location. Also the element arrived very quickly, a big plus since I'd had to turn off the breaker and couldn't use the range at all until fixed. Many thanks. 

Older Kenmore oven produced for Sears by Roper. Tested for power at terminals and determined bake element bad. Ordered new part on Monday, received on Wednesday.
