How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4538345 / WE1M825 Dryer Lint Screen Housing Seal

Replaced air duct assembly, drum support, bearing slides, felt & seal. 

Replaced the top bearing and slides. Delivered to my house in 2 days and was delivered on a Saturday with no extra charges. Very good value. Saved half what would cost locally at parts store. The video made the project pretty easy. Very satisfied overall. 

My dryer was making a very loud noise while running. At first, a repair person came out and replaced the front plastic bearings but it had little effect. It appears that our rear bearing drum kit was also worn out, so I replaced that, but it still didn't solve it. Starting to feel like the dad from "A Christmas Story" who is always doing battle with an appliance in the basement, I set out to figure out what was causing it. Through trial and error, I was able to determine that the motor was going bad. Lubricant failed to fix the problem, so I ordered a new one here. With the helpful video posted here, I was able to turn this simple repair into a good father-daughter bonding time and taught my 11-year-old how to replace the motor (only doing some of trickier parts for her). Our dryer hasn't been this quiet since it was brand new, and I'm pretty sure we just reset the effective life on it from 10 years old down to 1 year old with the parts we replaced. The prices on Appliance Parts Pro are very competitive, and while you may be able to find slightly cheaper OEM parts elsewhere, I'm always ordering my parts here because they have great shipping, great service, and are committed to helping you get your repair done properly. Other sellers will take your money and leave you hanging. 

My son fixed it by taking it all apart and ordering the parts that were needed. When they came he put it back together very quickly and it works perfect. Thank goodness I have a smart handy son. 

Found information on your website and parts to fix the problems. Videos were extremely helpful and made the repairs very quick and easy. Dryer quiet now and runs like new. 

I replaced the felt liner duct liner. 

I had to remove the dryer top and front. I had no problems removing the broken drum guide. I did remove the drum and vacuum out the dryer and replaced the seal. This repair saved us money and put off replacing this dryer. I had to use a Phillips screw driver and a star bit. 

First, in 2 separate orders, the parts were delivered the next day using standard shipping. I replaced the dryer drum front support bearing, the felt trap duct, and the gasket, front duct along with the 4 bearing pads that mount on the front support. I did have to apply some white spray gease to get the drum to turn smoothly. the whole job took about 1 1/2 hours. 

Replaced front bearing support and bearing slides. also replaced lower section called duct trap assembly. I ordered the felt and foam gaskets for the lower assembly, but when I opened the box for the lower assembly I noticed the felt and foam gaskets came with the lower half. therefore I spent an extra 12 dollars for the parts I never used. The woman who helped me was very good and knew what I needed. But if she knew that the lower assembly came with the gaskets on it ,I wouldn't have spare parts I don't need. All in all the repair took 1/2 hour to complete and my dryer has never sounded so quiet or run so efficient. Very pleased with appliance pros.com, and would use them again. Instead of buying a new dryer for thousands I spent 100 dollars and can probably run my dryer another 5 years. Advice to appliance pro's.com. Change your parts list for the part I mentioned to reflect it comes with felt and foam. To save customers money when they buy it. They will thank you in the end, and come back to you because your honest. 

Replaced the bearing and 4 bearing slides. The felt and seals were still in good shape. The bearing I needed was shipped but the part had been out of package prior to me receiving. I do not have lamp in my dryer and the bearing I received had the hole for lamp already knocked out. Very easy repair though. Cleaned all vents before reassembly. Video was very helpful. Would use this company again.
